That article is woefully misleading.
ReplyDeleteThis has nothing to do with being able to use unicode on the internet (in things like search bars)-- that's been supported for a while. Nor does it have to do with using unicode in most parts of domain names-- ☃.net, for example, has been registerred since 2006.
The only thing that's new is the ability to have country-code domains contain international characters. For example, foo.中国.
